Dr. Sasson Moulavi, MD, LMCC, OMA Fellow

Dr. Sasson E. Moulavi (Dr. Sass), MD is the Medical Director of Smart for Life® headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida and graduate of the University of Toronto where he received a degree of Doctor of Medicine. He completed post graduate training at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Dr. Moulavi has achieved Board Certification in Anti-Aging Medicine (2005- ) as well as Bariatric Medicine (2006-2016).

He has completed the Annual Practical Approaches to the Treatment of Obesity at Harvard University and is a member of the American Board of Anti-Aging Medicine as well as the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine.

For more than 15 years he has specialized in the study and treatment of Bariatric Medicine and has trained over 100 doctors in the science behind Bariatric Medicine. Dr. Moulavi has directed the operation of multiple weight loss centers in both the United States and Canada. Prior to 1995, he practiced as a family doctor and an Emergency Room doctor in Canada. His passion is to provide a successful, simple, affordable way to reach and maintain a healthy weight while improving overall health and quality of life.



Ariel Soffer, M.D., FACC

Dr. Soffer is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease, and has been a Fellow in the American College of Cardiology since 1998. He graduated with distinction from medical school at the University of Miami, after which he was offered a residency at Cedars Sinai/UCLA, one of the world’s most prestigious cardiology programs.

Early in his career, Dr. Soffer was named the Chief of Medicine of Hollywood Medical Center. He soon went on to become the Chief of Cardiology for Jackson North Medical Center, one of the world’s largest academically affiliated hospital systems, Jackson Health. Dr. Soffer has also served as official doctor and chief medical physician and cardiologist for the National Hockey League’s Florida Panthers.

Dr. Soffer wrote and published a book on Mitral Valve Prolapse Syndrome, and is a regular contributor to the Life Extension Foundation’s internationally regarded alternative treatment publication. His work on Enhanced External Counter Pulsation also received national attention as an FDA and Medicare-approved alternative to angioplasty or bypass surgery.

Over the last 10 years he has dedicated much of his practice to perfecting the treatment of venous circulation and varicose veins in particular. He has raised awareness about this neglected circulatory issue and published two landmark articles in peer-reviewed journals describing the importance of venous issues.



Ms. Brenda Borton, RNP

Ms. Brenda Borton, RNP is a caring and reliable nurse practitioner serving the communities of Royal Palm Beach and Boca Raton, FL. Ms. Borton attended the University of South Florida, where she earned her master’s degree in nursing and master’s degree in Public Health. She also holds a bachelor’s degree from South University in West Palm Beach, FL.

She believes that her work has given her hands on experience in primary care and weight loss management. In the past, Brenda has worked as a staff nurse in the emergency department of Bethesda Memorial Hospital in Boynton Beach, FL. Ms. Borton holds certification in ACLS, PALS, and Spirometry. She was recognized as the “Emergency Nurse of the Year” in 2011.
